Our Dresses

Our first dresses;

This was our first attempt.
Very cute.
Such an easy pattern.

It is hard to see the purple on the black background.

Kmart T shirt

We picked up cheap T shirts from Kmart for $2 and added the skirt.
Kmart T shirt $2
We really need to re photograph this one as the black T shirt is lost on the black background. These were very quick and easy to make. Finding  the cheap T shirts is a challenge.

This was the first effort from one of our group members. The pocket was made from bias binding and lace very creative - looks a bit vintage.

This was our first effort using Gigi Sun's (DAG Australia) peasant dress pattern. This is the smallest size. Pattern is attached for use. Print off to scale and draw up onto paper for easy cutting out.
We will be making this pattern mostly as we hope our dresses will go to little girls in Asia and they need sleeves on them.

This was another variation using a different sleeve style.
We like the peasant one better and it gives more cover for modesty.

Sept 2013 Wow what a busy time we have had. One of our group has moved to Taupo and one of us is having a job change so it has been busy times for us. We have been sewing but we haven't uploaded for a while. We will get onto it in the school holidays. A big thanks goes out to Thea and Melissa who have got a group of sewers going in their home towns. Carolyn from Papamoa is thinking about sewing  so that sounds promising as well. Go us all !!! This is such a good cause.

Melissa she has sent these lovely dresses up to us.

So cute :-) - again another big thank you Melissa.

Merry Christmas - enjoy your time with your family. We hope to get together for a sewing bee over the holidays.

Happy New Year !!!!!

2014 is here already - where has the year gone. Thanks so much to those of you who have sewn for Dress a Girl NZ.

We got together over the school holidays and had a sewing bee. Many hands make light work.

On my travels over the holidays I found a fab store in Whangarei - Arthur's Emporium. Wow lots of bargain fabric $3 metre upwards.

Jo from Helensville has been busy she has organised a group of sewers who have already had a sewing bee and sent in some dresses and they plan to have another one again in March at the school hall.
Here are some of their lovely efforts:

Wow so much work and such lovely dresses.
Thanks again to the Helensville group.

Annie from Whangaparoa has sent these lovely ones in as well:
